'Kaufhaus Nathan Israel' (Nathan Israel's Department Store) was a famous Berlin department store, founded in 1815 and by 1930 one of the largest retail establishments in Europe. Owned by Jews, it was boycotted by Nazi government and destroyed during Kristallnacht in 1938. Its manager Wilfrid Israel (1899-1943) was secretly active rescuing Jews during the Holocaust.
