Maccabi World Union "Pierre Gildesgame Maccabi Museum" foundation medal, 1982; nickel(?); weight: 13.4g; size (medal only): 43.25mm x 43.5mm.
Obverse legend in Hebrew "World Maccabi Union"; on reverse a reproduction of the emblem used by the German Jewish Gymnastics Group at the 6th Zionist Congress (1903) - a representation of the emblem of the Zionist movement and the slogan "Strong Strong and Brave" ("Khazak Khazak veAmatz").
The allusion is to the movement in Jewish and Zionist circles at the end of the 19th Century to promote what Herzl's close associate Max Nordau termed "Muscular Judaism" - physical fitness as an expression of Jewish prowess.
In VF: what appears to be dark dirt marks may be the result of the medal's manufacturing process; the loop is soldiered on and may have been done separately from the production of the medal.
Pierre Gildesgame served as president of the Maccabi World Union from 1973 until his untimely death in 1981; in recognition of his fund raising activities and support of Maccabi a sports museum commemorating the work of the Maccabi World Union was established in his name at the "Maccabi Village" in Ramat Gan in 1982. The motto "Strong Strong and Brave" has been adopted by many Jewish sports and scouting organizations (HaShomer Hatzair, Maccabi HaTzair, HaNoar HaTzioni) and is loosely used as an expression of spiritual support.

24th Kinneret (Sea of Galillee) March in honor of David Elazar uniface token, 1983; aluminum(?); weight: 15.6g; 37mm. Obverse depicts image of the Sea of Galillee with legend "The 24th Kinneret March in memory of Rav Aluf [Lieutenant-General, i.e. Chief of Staff] David Elazar Z.L. [eg. R.I.P], Jordan Valley Regional Council", and symbols of the regional council and the Hapoel sports federation.
The Kinneret March is held annually to this day in memory of the Elazar, who was Chief of Staff during the Yom Kippur War (1973). Though born in Yugoslavia, the connection between the Sea in the north to him is probably due a) to his activities in reprisal raids against infiltrators in this region in 1954-55, and b) to his service as Northern Regional commander from 1964-1972 during which time in the Six Day War (1967) he oversaw the capture of the Golan Heights. Israel Referee Association ("Igud HaShoftim") medal for 25 years service, 1961; 35mm, 29.5g: round metal tallion with enamel emblem of the Israeli Referee Association and the number "25" engraved above it connected to a blue and white cloth ribbon which is attached to a metal clasp.
The clasp is engraved "Jubilee 1936-1961"; on reverse is the recipient's name, M.Chadshoni - possibly Michael Chadshoni (whose name appears in connection to the scheduler who assigned a young referee to referee a contentious football game one series before the season finale, between HaPoel Petach Tikva, the then Israeli premier league champion five years running, and Maccabi Tel Aviv, in which a hand-ball call caused an uproar on the pitch - 4 July 1964).

Israel/Palestine: 2-piece commemorative uniface medal set of the First Maccabbi Games competition, 1932; white metal.
The medal with the image of two figures appears to be maker-marked "J"; size (tallion only): 24.5mm x 27.5mm; weight: 4.95g. The second medal depicting a replica of a Bar Kochba revolt coin may have a similar maker's mark next to the Star of David; size (tallion only): 24.75mm x 28mm; weight: 5g.
The first uniface token is partly engraved, bearing complimentary images of the then present-day new Hebrew man and his namesake predecessor by a lion, the Maccabbi (who fought against the Greeks); on the mantle is the emblem of the Maccabbi Games, with a Menorah above (a standard Jewish-Zionist image, but directly related to the Maccabbi's as their victory is celebrated with a Menorah during the Chanukka holiday) and "Maccabbi" on the flag behind it; below, in exergue are the commemorative Hebrew dates of 3892 - 5792 (32 AD - 1932, although the victory of the Maccabbi's actually took place 170 years before then, in 138 BCE).
The second medal is a simple replica of a Bar Kochba revolt era (132-132 AD) tetradrachm coin which depicted the entrance of the second [Great] Temple, of the type bearing the name "Shimon"; the original's rosette device has been replace here by a Star of David.
The "Maccabiah" was an important expression of what the first Zionist Congresses called "Muscular Judaism" - expressions of Jewish physical prowess (in place of the popular caricature of Jews as bookish or weak people).
Although the "Maccabbi" sports organization existed many years prior to the first Maccabiah, Joseph Yekutieli actively promoted the notion of "Jewish world olympic games" before the Maccabbi world organization, and this eventually took place over 5 days in Tel Aviv, in March 1932, with 5,000 participants from 22 countries (390 of them from Palestine itself). The mayor of Tel Aviv, Meir Dizengoff, opened the games (on horseback), and the British High Commissioner, Arthur Wauchope, presided over the closing ceremonies.
This medal is probably locally made, by a former Bezalal School design student, showing a few hallmarks of the Bezalel school (closed 1929) style of design on the first medal. It was probably awarded to local participants particularly since it is only in Hebrew. In AU-UNC.

Israel/Palestine: "Palestine Athletics" silver medal (with tallion) for a walking race, 1926; struck in silver; by the firm of William James Dingley (W.J.D.) of Birmingham; size: 35.5mm; weight: 4.15g.
Obverse bears stylized engraving between wreath devices, "Jan. 13. 26 Palestine Athletics"; on reverse is engraved "15 Miles Walking Race".
The medal is not locally produced, does not contain any Hebrew (or Arabic), or Jewish/Zionist emblems and the event itself is not recorded in standard histories of sports in Palestine, and so is most probably related to a privately organized function by the expatriate British community in Palestine - a school, Church or civic organization (even a governmental function would have either used all three languages or an official emblem). In VF.

Jewish/Eretz-Israel Soldiers "Tripoli League" sports competition medal, 1943-44, Libya(?); struck in brass; no makers mark; weight: 24.4g; size: 35mm.
Generic medal inscribed "Tripoli League Champions Knock-out Competition 1943-44 Runners Up." surrounded by laurel; on reverse blank planchet with rope device frame - probably inscribed with the names of the finalists (as opposed to the runners up).
Most likely from Libya: although a volunteer anti-aircraft battery manned by Jews from Palestine was stationed in Tripoli, Lebanon, these were transferred to Cyprus in 1943; by contrast many Jews serving in a myriad of all-Palestinian units reached Libya in 1943 and its for these troops that such a medal was probably created.
Among the units were the "148th Water Transport Company", the "462nd Transport Company", the "1039th Port Operating Company, Royal Engineers", the "179th G.T. Company, Royal Army Service Corps". The Eretz Israel "Jewish Soldiers Welfare Association" organized clubs and social events for Jewish soldiers serving outside Palestine and made especial efforts to connect these events to the local Jewish communities of which the Libyan was quite large, and probably in this framework such a "Tripoli League" competition existed. In VF.

Munich "Bloody Olympics" Games commemorative medal, 1972; stuck in cupro-nickel; no maker mark; weight: 17.2g; size: 35.25mm.
Obverse depicts the "Frauenkirche" Cathedral ("Cathedral of our Dear Lady") in Munich with emblem of the Olympic Games and legend "Bloody Olympics | Munich 1972"; reverse image of tomb stone with Menorah (Jewish candelbra) above olive(?) leaves and legend "Germany Mourns with Israel over Her Dead 5. Sept. 1972".
In AU-UNC; possibly originally in proof state though now with surface tarnish. Slight manufacturing flaw: a piece of the obverse rim is clipped off.
