Rare Judaica book: "Juedisch Geschichtliche Staetten in Wien und den Oestereichischen Bundeslaendern" ('Jewish Historical Cities in Vienna and Austria), by Josef Pick, published by Josef Schwarz, Vienna, 1935. The book is richly illustrated with numerous rare photographs of Jewish sites and Synagogues shortly before the Nazi putsch in Austria and the later annexation of the country by Germany. 70 pages in length and overall in excellent condition except for slight separations between page segments in places from the back binding, and a few spots of wear on the fabric of the hard cover. A unique momento of a world that was.

Hebraic literature (book): "Das Yidische Wart: Literarische Krestamatia" ('The Yiddish Word'), by Eliezer Frenkel, published by the Yiddish Cultural Circle of Romania named after Y. L. Peretz, Iasi (Romania), 1948. A primitive looking soft-back publication, 184 pages in length, and written in Yiddish tranlaterated with Hebrew characters. The book introduces the reader to key figures in Yiddish culture, with numerous photographs of the personalities. Overall in good condition, though the edges of the cover are a little worn. Rare and unusual for that part of Europe during the early period of the Cold War.

Holocaust book: "Churbn Lettland: Die Vernichtung Der Juden Lettlands" ("Chorban Lettland: The Destruction of the Jews of Lettland") by Max Kaufmann, Munich 1947. Self-published under the auspices of the American military government - GEC-AGO, Eucom (European Command) - in July 1947, the book records the history of the German annihilation of the Jewish community in Latvia. 542 pages in length, with a few photographs, the book is in German with a few portions in English and Yiddish (transliterated with Hebrew letters). A rare accounting of Holocaust history so soon after the war. The cover is worn and the back binding is partially taped in place.

"The Religious and Cultural Heritage of the Bene-Israels of India, Book II", published by E. Jacob Gadkar for the Sha'ar Ha'Rachamim (Gate of Mercy) Synagogue in Bombay, 1984. The book celebrates the accomplishments of notable Indian Jews, and includes articles on the history of the Bene-Israels, Jews in Defence Services, important Jewish institutions in India, notable personalities in all areas of Indian culture, and more. A dense and illustrated volume that sheds light on India's obscure Jewish community. 182 pages, mostly in good condition although the paper-cover has a few tears and the bottom is loosened from the back-binder. Scarce.
